Big Nugget Farm.jpeg

We are a small off-grid family farm at 8500′ in Custer County, CO. Our hemp, produce, and animals are grown using natural and organic practices. We design and make all our bath and home products from scratch with quality natural ingredients.

We started Big Nugget Farm in 2017 after moving to Westcliffe from Denver. We had done some research into what hemp could do for the body and mind, and being as though we’re into natural and healthy living, it seemed to be a perfect fit. We have been growing hemp every year since, and 2023 will be our 7th year planting a hemp crop. We slowly started adding produce to our farm, beginning with onions and potatoes. Now we grow just about everything that will survive (and finish) at 8500′. We use organic and natural practices to grow everything, including our animals. We’ve been doing the local farmer’s market since 2018. We live completely off-grid with our four boys.

We believe the best beef comes from caring for the animals from birth, utilizing a low-stress environment, lush mountain grass forages, and clean-living. As a small family operation, our production of beef and breeding stock is dependent on keeping sustainability of the land.

Jamber Acres was established in the Spring of 2023 by John & Amber Loughrey. We both felt it was difficult to find fresh, excellent quality produce that was local, so we decided to grow it ourselves! Our small farm is located in Cotopaxi where we grow our bounty in two greenhouses. Our mission is to provide the community with fresh and nutritious produce.

We will be at the Friday Farmer’s Market in Westcliffe this summer. We also welcome pick-ups at the farm by appointment during the operating season. Follow our Facebook page for more information on what’s growing and other updates.

We got our start selling our local, hydroponically grown leafy greens at the Westcliffe Farmers Market. Once our customers discovered that because we grow indoors, we are able to grow our leafy greens year-round, they began to ask how they could continue enjoying fresh greens throughout the winter! We’ve been working diligently to find ways to offer our products to the community both on- and off- season.
