High Country Recycling’s mission is to be a comprehensive, successful program that supports individuals, business and governmental practices that reduces waste, promotes reuse and advances recycling throughout Custer County.
Our objectives are to promote community involvement, educated and raise awareness, expand options and role model zero waste.
Waste reduction is extremely important to Custer County as we have limited space at our local landfill. In 2022 we partnered with Custer County to establish a drop off “material recovery facility’” for cardboard, paper, aluminum and steel at the County landfill site.
We support local service providers by providing much needed volunteer labor and/or needed equipment that enhance their recycling operations. We focus on maintaining and enhancing recycling opportunities while reducing recycling challenges.
