What do you love about the Wet Mountain Valley?
Its jaw-dropping scenery, access to mountain wilderness, rural feel, and thriving arts character make it a quiet, quality place to live and work.
How did you end up owning an art gallery in Custer County?
Stemming from childhood visits to the Sangre de Cristo mountains, we were destined to paint them. It seemed a natural fit to relocate to the Wet Mountain Valley after years in other professions, and then to paint the mountains we love so much. We opened an art gallery to enhance the art scene here, and to provide a space to display and sell artworks and fine fiber arts made from our herd of alpacas.
How important is tourism and visitor spending to your business?
Tourism is very important to the success of our gallery. We are grateful for a stream of arts-minded folks discovering all of the arts in the Wet Mountain Valley.
How did COVID impact your business?
Like most businesses, in the early months of the pandemic, we shut down. Despite the safety protocols subsequently employed, we had a good year and look forward to greeting new customers.
What are some of your favorite things about owning a tourism-related business in Westcliffe?
Meeting unique individuals from all over our country as well as a few from overseas and discovering how much in common we have. We love exposing tourists to the many talented artists this valley is fortunate to have.
