With our rich ranching history, it’s no wonder the Custer County Fair and Westcliffe Stampede Rodeo draw huge crowds each July.

While the rodeo features cowboys and bucking broncos, both from local ranches and from the professional rodeo circuit, the fair highlights a variety of projects by 4-H and Future Farmers of America members.

The Custer County Fair aims to educate, give experience, teach sportsmanship and encourage cooperation by all participants. During fair week, participants display for judges and visitors a variety of animals they’ve raised.

Competitions throughout the week showcase participants’ abilities to care for and train their animals. At the fair’s end, judges award grand-champion ribbons and participants see tangible rewards when they sell their livestock at auction.

Ribbons are also awarded to a variety of projects demonstrating life skills, such as sewing, cooking, photography, woodworking and archery.

Come enjoy the rich agricultural history of the area and have a great time at the Custer County Fair, an annual tradition since 1947.
